As Types Grow Older – Re-Release of Grimoire and Sadness

Forums:

My very first typefaces Sadness and Grimoire have just been published in new and revised versions at Myfonts. After the tragic end of the established Fountain Type Foundry I had to ask myself the following question: Is there still any justification for the existence of my 20 year old fonts?

Aghari [an organic serif]

Forums:

Hello,

I would like to present to you a typeface of mine. It's a somewhat organic serif typeface with subtle Middle-Eastern influences. There's definitely a lot of refining to do, but meanwhile I would like to gather your opinions and criticism.

I also have some letters of a sans companion but I abandoned that for now because I first need to get the basic set of the serif right. I will also leave the display version until the regular version is done but I still wanted to show what I have.

Fonts on Retina: Good or bad?

Hello everyone.

I am a big font enthusiast. These days I am looking for a laptop. Since Retina MacBook Pro has very high pixel density (220/227 ppi) I went to the store to test it.

But to my surprise, the font looked somehow unnatural, strange, too sterile, maybe even too sharp and not so pleasant to read. Of course looking at the words and characters, the curves were perfectly displayed. Like on a paper. Hardly a pixel was found (unless looking very near display).
Then I started to search about that and found these thoughts:

"It needs organic noise, otherwise it all looks like dead plastic"

"Sharpness of type is being celebrated. But that’s not a quality in itself. Just looks cold. Type needs a certain amount of fuzziness. Warmth"

Optima for an Organic Cosmetic Logo? Yes, No...

Forums:

Hi,

I have only started reading posts on this forum today, so apologies for any faux pas I may commit.

I am considering using Optima as the typeface for an organic cosmetic company. The basic attributes I am after are: Beauty, Nature, Friendliness, Elegance. In a nut shell I am after "natural beauty".

What do you think about using Optima as the typeface for this logo? Also, are you even permitted to use Optima for logos using a regular license.

Thanks

Small scale soap producer - labels

I'm designing labels for a line of soaps. One woman makes the soap, uses a lot of organic and natural ingredients. She was using clip art before this. I'm doing this freelance and I've really only had a couple design jobs before, so feel free to tear it apart. Just looking for a general critique. Thanks:

Here's a font I've seen before and probably even have on my hd, but i can't figure out what it is. Any ideas? It's all about the "g".

Thanks all,
Scott

New Release: Rue Display.

Forums:

TypeTogether is proud to introduce Rue Display, an organic, casually ornamental, narrow-faced sans serif designed by Winnie Tan.

Rue's spirited and exploratory design is the materialization of a feeling about fonts as a family of organisms taking on a life of its own, in work and play. It was conceived as a typeface, used as an image and discovered as an ornament.

It comes in 10 weights of light, regular, medium, semibold and bold, each with italics.
