http://www.granshan.com/

Organized by Typographische Gesellschaft München (tgm) and its partners*, the core of the event is comprised of four days at the end of July featuring workshops, presentations, exhibitions and a symposium. With presenters and attendees from all corners of the world, Granshan is the only conference focused on non-Latin typefaces. As such, it has itself become a focal point of this rapidly growing and maturing field.

More information about Letter.2:

The first event of this kind since the founding of ATypI took place in 2001, and it was a contribution to the United Nations Year of Dialogue Among Civilizations. The winning entries were exhibited at the United Nations Headquarters in New York (USA) and they were featured in the book Language Culture Type.

TYPE DESIGN INTERNATIONAL STUDENT COMPETITION “MILOSZ 2011”

2011 has been designated as the Year of Czesław Miłosz, and as such it will abound in momentous events making literature an everyday experience and enhancing the status of culture in public sphere. The Year will celebrate the book itself – the word and its setting.

The ZNACZY SIĘ New Art Foundation announces the International Student Competition for Typeface ‘Milosz’.

We hope the competition will highlight the importance of the written word and the craft of typeface design.

Hello.

I have a company that builds/manages web software as well as providing design services to a small number of clients. For quite a while we've looked at changing our logo to a simple wordmark. However; finding a perfect font that "just looks right" for our company name has proved elusive. We're great at designing stuff for other people but our own seems to be an achilies heel. To be honest, it's now driving me crazy lol.

People on here are extremely knowledgable about fonts (more so than me) so I thought I'd reach out for some help. If you suggest a font and we decide to use it, I will send you $200 (or £125 / €150) via PayPal.

Brief:
---------------------------
i) The name of the company is Aylis
ii) Letters can be upper/lower (Aylis AYLIS aylis)

It's been two years, but Valentype makes a thunderous come-back. If you know what it’s like to passionately love a typeface, The FontFeed offers a golden opportunity. Declare your love for a typeface and you could win an official single license to four (4) weights/styles in OpenType, Offc or Webfont format of that typeface (for example Regular, Italic, Bold, Black). This love declaration can take any form you like: a poem, an image, a short text, whatever you feel like creating.

Previously limited to FontFont and OurType fonts, now more than thirty foundries participate in this year's type love extravaganza. Head over to The FontFeed for all the details.

Can anyone help me identify the font used on Canons The Story Behind the Still competition they are currently running on Vimeo. Thanks in advance.

Organisers of the International Design Festival Design Attack invite designers to submit their proposals for the exhibition "Material of the Future", a part of the first edition of Design Attack Festival, which will be held in Krakow on 6-30 November 2010.

The subject of the exhibition Material of the Future will revolve around the evolution of materials considered to be the future - from plastic (first bakelites, tomofon, the first biodegradable materials, laminates AbetPrint) towards ecology, nanotechnologies, and hybrid composites. The exhibition will present works and projects of Polish and foreign designers interested in the issue of using new materials in 3d design.

Hi,

I was asked to design a logo for the 'OPC'.
Couple of things I took in account, it should have an official look to it,
use of blue and red (nba-nfl...), the short for 'open poker championship' should
be well readable (easy reference for people;'yeah I'm attending the OPC')
and there should be a direct link to poker in the main visual.

I created the following logo's but I feel there could be some improvement (mainly on the visual consistency-coherence and used type),

It would be nice if you guys could share some thoughts !

Thanks in advance,

Matt

Hi,

Can anybody help me out if they know some typography competitions for professionals (or young professionals to be precise). I came across the TDC site, but that competition is closed. Any others?

Thanks,
Sulekha
