The Society of Typographic Aficionados is pleased to announce the fourth annual SOTA Catalyst Award. The award is targeted at young people who have created original work in type design, type history, or other areas related to typography. The award recognizes a person 25 years of age or younger who shows both achievement and future promise in the field of typography. The purpose of the award is to act as a catalyst in the career of a young person who does not yet have broad exposure in the profession.

The Fine Press Book Association is offering prizes for the best text families and titling faces designed by a student during the 2011-2013 academic years. Winning and runner-up type designs will be featured in the Association's journal "Parenthesis" and the winning titling face will be engraved and cast in foundry metal by the Dale Guild type Foundry.

FontFont designers have been recipients of prestigious type design awards, but few can claim to have been even before their creations were officially published. Ludwig Übele’s FF Tundra — a recipient of a Certificate of Excellence in Type Design at this year’s TDC2 competition — is now available for licensing.

The Society of Typographic Aficionados (SOTA) has announced that Erin McLaughlin of New York, NY, will be the recipient of the 2011 SOTA Catalyst Award. The award was created by SOTA in 2010 to recognize a person thirty years of age or younger who demonstrates significant achievement and future promise in the field of typography. Erin will present her work and receive the award at TypeCon2011: Surge, taking place in New Orleans, July 5th–10th.

The Society of Typographic Aficionados is happy to announce the second annual SOTA Catalyst Award for young people who have created original work in type design, type history, or other areas related to typography. The award recognizes a person 30 years of age or younger who shows both achievement and future promise in the field of typography.

Dear all,

I trust you have all seen the results of tdc2, 2010. I have failed to find everyone's opinion on the results. For me, there was one major surprise but I might be wrong.

What are your thoughts?

(PS. Does anyone know whether it is possible to know what faces were entered, all I can get is the list of the award recipients?)
