New: HapticScript family by Henning Skibbe

Forums:

The HapticScript family is a connected brush script with a warm, personal and soft character. The typeface family has five styles from Light through Black. It was designed as a companion and extension to the Haptic sans-serif family.

HapticScript has up to 14 variations for each glyph. The almost 2,000 characters per font including 40+ ligatures enable designers to give each word an individual look. Many swash characters for initials and word endings make words looks as if they were hand lettered.

Five Styles: Light, Regular, Semibold, Bold and Black

OpenType features: Ligatures, Contextual Alternates, Stylistic Sets, Old Style figures, Tabular figures

Hands On The Sigmund Freud Typeface: Making A Font For Your Shrink

Hi there,

I just published my first article for Smashing Magazine.
I’ll explain the process of creating a handwriting font exemplary on the Sigmund Freud Typeface, based on Freud's Handwriting.

Feedback (here and directly on Smashing Magazine) warmly welcome.

Script for tagline

Hi guys,

I am looking for a script/handwriting to be used as a tagline. It must feel friendly, warm and simple. And maybe more important it has to be very legible and work in small sizes.

I've found Tomboy from Letterperfect http://www.myfonts.com/fonts/letterperfect/tomboy/ that I find pretty suitable. However, I think it's a bit too masculine and harsh. I guess it's because it's a signage/marker typeface rather than a script.

Any ideas on similar but with a friendlier appearance?

Thanks!

Feedback on type for band, Shrewdness of Apes, would be much appreciated.

I started by writing the name with a paint pen, scanning it in, and turning it into a vector. My goal is to create something that is upbeat, fresh, and doesn't look homemade. Feel free to critique it in a reverse compliment sandwich.

Here is a link to the band for comparison. http://mableyandgreek.bandcamp.com/#zplays

Thanks!
Jamie

"Heart & Mind" custom lettering

Hey guys I've been working on this custom lettering project. What do you guys think? Is the composition balanced? Is this too busy? Your suggestions & constructive criticism would be much appreciated!

It's inspired by this quote... "Wealth is of the heart and mind, not the pocket" by Pharrell.

Thanks,
- Joseph

Looking for a handwriting font like Qwitcher Brychen

I'm looking for a handwriting font like Qwitcher Brychen:

http://www.myfonts.com/fonts/typesetit/qwitcher-bychen/

I am looking at the lowercase "s" and "h" together and I like the more s shaped "s" instead of the normal cursive look. I also like the open loop in the stem of the "h". Are there other handwriting fonts that this look?

Thank you for any help you can offer!

Arrogant, Audacious, feminine lettering

Looking for a headline typeface for a fashion brand (ladies clothing) for adverts, website slides etc.
The brand is edgy and experimental and needs something different to the usual didone and sans serif styles.

I'm thinking something like Rihanna's style:
Rihanna1
Rihanna2

I'd love to get some lettering commissioned but unfortunately can't do that so hoping someone knows of a decent font like this, preferably with a few alternates so it looks more hand done.

If anyone has any ideas for something like this, or any other ideas for a typeface.
Has to be edgy and Audacious!

Thanks
Joe

An Innovative Handwriting Averaging-Approach

This recent research by Lawrence Zitnick on a handwriting averaging approach based on sampling is not only interesting, but holds enough potential to influence the way we do type design. Basically, the algorithm takes user stroke samples in real time (with the help of a pen tablet) to increase stroke consistency in a non-destructive manner. Take a look at the presentation video (link at the bottom); there's no need to put it into words.

I wonder: If this algorithm could take stroke-width information into account, the application to the digitization process of calligraphic ‘handwritten’ fonts is obvious.

What are these cursive, handwritten script fonts?

Hi there! I would like to know what these fonts are. One of them is taken from the header image of http://www.laurenslatest.com/ and I can't remember the origin of the other one.

Thanks in advance! :)

p.s. i'm not too sure how to describe these fonts, hope the terms, cursive and handwritten script, fit the bill.
