Font Lab

Dear Forum
this is my first post here!

I have a little question: I’m currently creating a font which contains 3 different widths for each character.
Imagine condensed, normal, extended.

Is it, and how, possible to let the typeface itself change, or say randomly pick, one of these 3 possible widths while i’m typing it in inDesign? In heard that some handwriting typefaces apply such glyph-exchange-techniques to not let the typeface appear to stiff in a larger text.

Any help or further reading is very much appreciated!
best wishes
Johannes

in FL 5.1 when you generate a font whiteout copyright info (a beta version, for example) the new FL 5.1 will attribute your font to Adobe.
Adding this into your copyright: "Copyright 2012 Adobe Systems Incorporated. All rights reserved."
And this into your trademark: Please refer to the Copyright section for the font trademark attribution notices.
Not Good.

Also, in some case, it will "replace" your own copyright data.
Worst.

The old FL 5.0 used to say "Generated in 2012 by FontLab Studio. Copyright info pending."

Hi! I am trying to scale down my font to 80% and then use action >Effect>Parallel to
create horizontal and vertical stem variation. but I get a lot of nodes and it loses its
shape too. Does anyone tell me how to to this in better way &close to my original shape ?
is their Python script available for this?
Thank you .

FONT LAB

Hi all,

I wonder what piece of software most of you use to create typefaces? I have been advised to get Fontlab, details for fontlab :
FontLab Studio + ScanFont Bundle for Mac OS X
http://www.fontlab.com/buy/

apparently this gets you the normal fontlab studio liscence (might want to check this covers multiple computers?) and also software that allows Professional font creation from scanned images.

This Costs: $699 or £443.64

Is there any way of finding this cheaper? Or any problems you have had with the software? Anyone use fontographer? What are the differences? Thanks.

Hello,

I'm using Fontlab 5.0.4 on mac os 10.6.4 and I have problems with resize shapes.
When I resize the shapes they are getting damaged and I don't know what to do.

Anyone can help me here??

Thanks,

Moshik

Hi, everybody...

I mixed two good things: first, the fabulous Interpolate Nudge module from Christian Robertson and by the other hand, DialogKit from Tal Leming, the result is a very simple tool that for me is very useful. I share this with you, maybe it could be useful for someone else... Please, feel free to use it!

Interpolate Nudge -> http://betatype.com/node/18
Robofab -> http://www.robofab.org/download/index.html
(I've only tested it on FontLab 5.0.4 / OSX)

The script is provided as is (Free and without warranties, support, etc...)
