Ideally: figure out the "mood" of the project, then commission a custom design that evokes it. Failing the latter, look hard for a good match (that's not over-used).

Actually The Foundry once made a derivation of Syntax –with permission– with the slant removed. I wonder if this was a renamed version (although I suspect it's earlier).
