PS: if we go the sharing route we'll simply rename the SVG table's offsetToColorPalettes ULONG to be 'reserved ­ set to 0' in order not to break current tools/impls.

Are these proposed font spec extensions specific to – or mostly useful just for – emoji? I think that’s a question I’m hearing in some of the discussion above.

Emanual, my "three morphs into what looks like a four at a certain ppem" example was simply to show that visual tricks could be done using existing TT technology. It was not meant to be a use case for the color/animated font solutions.
