Many thanks for your insightful comments Asvetic - I completely agree with your musings on the Wilde quote too, and I'll be offering it as an alternative to the client.

Once again I'm reminded how lucky I am to have found such a fantastic design community.

Thanks Typophiles, your input is always greatly appreciated, and I'll definately be taking on board your considerations - the chosen typeface is currently...

Thank you as always for your valued commentary, I've adjusted the piece for some wording considerations (At rather than In Ruby's being one of them), and reduced the amount of typefaces to simply Gotham and Didot.

I'm also liking the idea of...

Congratulations, you must be proud seeing it in action like that. Keep up the good work!

Nice job Billy,

You've done a fine job of altering the type to compliment the scalpel, I'm also a fan of the subtle gradient you've placed on the [original] image - congratulations!

Did you illustrate the type manually? Or is it a typeface?

You designed the logotype yourself? That's really something, I've seen it before around Belfast and it seems to be taking off with a lot of nightclubs / electronica artists.

Congratulations!

Seeking decorative vectors
Commented on Friday, 21 September 2007 - 11:39am

It has a setting for vectoring raster versions of type though - piracy anyone?

I'm currently into my eighteenth week in placement, so I've had some experience in obtaining the position.

My advice is to include everything you've ever done to show advancement, and having your own URL (not university-provided space) is good...

[CRITIQUE]: Too blasphemous for print?
Commented on Wednesday, 19 September 2007 - 6:16pm

It's purely conceptual - just something to show how useful the space could be to the client if it were utilised well enough. As I'm from Northern Ireland, both Protestants & Catholics hold their religion quite dearly, but it's not exactly poking...

Commented on Thursday, 20 September 2007 - 5:29am

Heh, too many typophiles are losing sight of the topic at hand (perhaps removing 'critique' in the title might help this).

The signage design hasn't started, nevermind finished - it's purely an idea which I'm considering as I'm unable to think...

Thanks for the advice guys, some pretty intuitive suggestions which I'll take under consideration. I'm thinking I'll go with the htaccess method to display a knowledge of extra-curricular coding (I'm currently a student and our portfolios are graded...

Fantastic insight guys, as a freelance / intern student myself, I've always wondered how much to charge for work (although they dont discuss pricing with me)

£30 an hour sounds nice compared to the 5 I get serving Guinness in the local pub!

My only problem is the illegibility of the address beneath 'Rick...
