Posted 11 Dec 2012 - 5:49pm

Dear readers,

i'm wondering how the "ALL CAPS" formatting in Indesign (not the "Change Case > Uppercase" function) should behave.

What i can see from testing in CS5, it applies the CASE feature (with positional changes) if found in...

Gulasch - a lively but old fashioned script
Posted 7 Apr 2009 - 7:44pm

Dear Typophiles,

and here's my second scetch from the last weeks... a quite old fashioned script called Gulasch (for the time of being).

It's my first script font, so I may do some "stupid" things yet which could be done more efficient...

Opentype CFF with UPM size 1100 instead of 1000?
Posted 12 Jan 2009 - 4:48pm

I have a font that has ascenders as high as 800em, and descenders to -...

OTF PS-flavoured: hinting makes glyph invisible in Indesign?
Posted 12 Jul 2008 - 11:12am

any idea what could be the cause that hinting (fontlab autohinting + AFDKO) "hides" (blanks) the ffi ligature in one of my fonts?

When I hint my font and then export it to opentype postscript-flavoured, the ffi-ligature glyph is just white....

Posted 1 Jul 2008 - 5:29am

From a typographers point of view, and for all fonts in general:
What characters are good to adjust to smallcaps settings?

  • A-Z.sc and all diacritics (okay, that's obvious :)
  • 0-9.sc
  • dieresis.sc, brackets.sc, ......
Illustrator as drawing tool (vs. Fontlab)
Posted 12 Mar 2008 - 5:54am

As some of you say they prefer Illustrator to draw their glyphs, and then copy them to fontlab, I just asked myself: Is there a way to handle tangents of the curves in illustrator in a way similar to Fontlab?
In Fontlab, I can klick on a tangent...

I'm wondering whether and in which extent it is possible to make Roman figures an applicable opentype feature (Stylistic Set).

Dear Typophiles,

is it possible to have two types of fraction (slashed and nuts) in the same font? I have the slashed ones implented via frac-feature in opentype, so I can have fractions like 2323423/34575685 or 15/4. This works fine in...
